The classic flavor of sausage, onions, and peppers is melded into a cream cheese sauce and finished with parmesan. These appetizer cups will be a crowd-pleaser at your next party and go quickly.
Preheat oven to 350F. Line two 12-count muffin tins with doubled wonton wrappers. Spray wrappers with olive oil or avocado oil cooking spray. Bake for 5-6 minutes. Wontons will be golden brown and feel firm; set aside.
Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
Add the chopped onion and cook for 5-7 minutes or until softened and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
Season with black pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, add the sausage mixture evenly into each pre-baked wonton cup.
Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes at 350F.
Serve with fresh parsley or green onion.
