Cheesy Sausage Wonton Cups

Ingredients

  • 16 ounces sweet Italian sausage
  • ½ cup sweet onion
  • ½ cup green pepper
  • 3 whole garlic cloves
  • 8 ounces cream cheese
  • ½ cup Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon paprika
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350F. Line two 12-count muffin tins with doubled wonton wrappers. Spray wrappers with olive oil or avocado oil cooking spray. Bake for 5-6 minutes. Wontons will be golden brown and feel firm; set aside.
  • Heat the butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the chopped onion and cook for 5-7 minutes or until softened and translucent. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another minute, until fragrant.
  • Add the Italian sausage and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through. Drain any excess grease.
  • Remove the skillet from the heat and stir in the softened cream cheese and grated Parmesan cheese until well combined.
  • Season with black pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and paprika.
  • Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, add the sausage mixture evenly into each pre-baked wonton cup.
  • Return to the oven and bake for an additional 5 minutes at 350F.
  • Serve with fresh parsley or green onion.
